Don't Ask Me What the Title Means...
A Walrus Darkly was just a phrase that popped into my head five years ago when I need a screen name. It's distinctive enough that I couldn't shake it.
I'm a writer, and sometimes I do that well enough that people pay me for it. I'm a journalist by day, serving as staff reporter, photographer and entertainment editor at The Huntsville Item (It's a small paper. I wear many hats.) By night I write fiction, do freelance work, paint, take photographs and worry that the white rats next door are plotting to take over the world.
A Walrus Darkly became a blog because my friends, many of them also writers, suggested to me that my film reviews needed a wider readership, but I have neither the discipline nor the attention span to confine myself to writing about film and only film. You will find LOTS of film writing here, but you'll also find ramblings about books, TV, music, comics, action figures, childhood nostalgia and general free associations on awesome things floating around in cyberspace. Also, I ramble, and I enjoy parentheses (They make me feel a little like Groucho Marx, leaning away to share a private joke, just you and me.).
My goal is to have something for everyone here, so if you didn't find it this time, I hope you'll come back again.
